MISSION

Pennies Make A Dime Inc. (PMAD) is committed to helping orphans and vulnerable children in Africa, especially those infected and affected with Burkitt Lymphomas, by enhancing access to health care, education, nutritional support and career development opportunities.

VISION

Provide financial support in the form of scholarships, transformational training programs such as seminars, workshops, and social activities for the less fortunate children and cancer affected children in Africa. Provide financial, emotional and spiritual support to educate and unleash their potential.

OBJECTIVE

- Increase the knowledge of cancer incidences and mortality through effective cancer registration and workshops
- Train and educate rural mother in Africa about proper nutrition.
- Raise awareness about cancer in order to encourage, prevent and detect early diagnosis.
- Provide new cancer treatment resources, including chemotherapy drugs and anti-bacteria drugs.
- Establish effective palliative care activities for ailing cancer children.

OUR BELIEF

- Is that less fortunate cancer infected children when given the right support can make meaningful impact in their lives and societies.

GOAL

-Establish satellite center for diagnosis and treatment cross Africa
-Improve awareness of childhood cancer and its potential curability.
-Improve diagnosis and access to treatment
-Increase survival rate from less than 20% to over 60%.
-Develop long term sustainability of care in hospital unit.
-Develop a national model of cancer for children
- Organize workshops for families of children with cancer
- Empower and create awareness for the advancement of minority children
- Organize fundraisers to support academic scholarship initiatives
-Provide support and collaborate with other organizations with similar vision

Speak one-on-one with an Information Specialist who can assist you through cancer treatment, financial and social challenges and give accurate, up-to-date disease, treatment and support information. Our Information Specialists are master's level oncology social workers, nurses and health educators.

Mary's STORy

As a 73-year-old woman diagnosed with high blood pressure and cholesterol, Mary did not have the funds to afford her daily medications. However, during the PMAD health fair, Mary was examined and given medication to combat her health conditions

KOFI's Story

The PMAD health fair seminar was attended by Kofi on November 19, 2019. In addition to heart discomfort and dizziness, he also reported some skin conditions. Medical consultation was provided to him by doctors, and he was advised to follow up with his physician. Not only did he receive a free consultation, but he also received medication for the condition he was diagnosed with. In addition, he informed the nurse present of his wife's condition. As a result of a stroke, his wife, Sarah, 43, was unable to walk. PMAD's medical team provided Sarah with transportation and a medical doctor to attend to her at her home. Sarah was given food, medication and a hygiene kit.

CLEMENT's Story

Clement Quaison is a two years old boy who's diagnosed with a mass tumor on his left chest. This mass tumor increased in size as he aged. Some of his symptoms were chest pain, dizziness, weakness, fatigue and trauma. He was admitted to Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital Accra, Ghana in 2017 at 8 months old, underwent several treatments and surgical removal thanks to PMAD and other Partners who sponsor all hospital bills and medication.

3rd Annual Keep Hope Alive Fundraiser Gala

Pennies Make A Dime Inc. invites you to kickoff the 3rd Annual KEEP HOPE ALIVE fundraiser gala at Hockessin Memorial Hall. This premier event will be a black tie event with a cash bar, a robust silent auction, dancing, dinner, and vendors. Our mission for this event is to raise $100,000. Funds raised from this fundraiser will be used to support the Shelter project, Educational Scholarships, and Research. It is expected that approximately 250 individuals from diverse backgrounds will attend the event. We will celebrate our 2023 scholarship recipients and signature award winners.
For the past 5 years, our Scholarship Fund has provided much needed help and support to high school graduates. We’ve provided college supplies and money for graduating students to prepare for their future
